Pre-Prep School (Ages 3-4)
The early years of a child’s education lay the foundations for future success. Our Pre-School provides a caring and stimulating environment where children can explore, discover and develop at their own pace.
Through a balance of structured learning, creative play and outdoor experiences, children build confidence, communication skills and independence while developing a love of learning that will stay with them throughout their education.

Children may join us from their third birthday and are welcome to attend taster sessions before starting.
Reception to Year 2
Our Reception and Key Stage 1 classes provide children with an outstanding start to their formal education. Pupils benefit from specialist teaching, engaging lessons and a broad range of opportunities designed to foster confidence, creativity and academic progress.
Small class sizes enable teachers to understand each child’s strengths and needs, ensuring they are both challenged and supported throughout their learning journey.
Children joining Reception to Year 2 are invited to spend time with us through taster days, allowing them to experience school life, meet their future classmates and feel confident about joining our community.
No formal entrance assessments are required for pupils joining Reception to Year 2.
Years 3-6
As children progress through the Prep School, they develop increasing independence, resilience and academic confidence. Our broad curriculum, specialist teaching and extensive co-curricular opportunities encourage pupils to discover their talents and pursue their interests.
Whether excelling in the classroom, performing on stage, competing in sport or exploring the outdoors, every child is encouraged to challenge themselves and reach their potential.
For pupils joining Years 3 to 6, we invite children to spend a day with us to experience life at Stafford Grammar School. During their visit, they will participate in lessons, meet their peers and spend time with a dedicated buddy who will ensure they feel welcome and supported throughout the day.
We also ask pupils to complete age-appropriate assessments in Literacy and Numeracy. These assessments are not designed to identify weaknesses; rather, they help us understand how best to support and challenge each child if they join our school.
A Warm Welcome from Day One
We understand that joining a new school can feel daunting. Every prospective pupil is paired with a buddy during their visit, ensuring they quickly feel part of the school community.
Our pupils are proud of their school and enjoy helping new children settle in, making friendships and finding their feet from the very beginning.
Following a taster day, families receive personalised feedback from the Head of Prep School, who will discuss the experience and answer any questions before an offer is made.
