Teechers Opens Tonight!
By Saskia Cummings (Interviews with Mrs Fletcher, Louis Law and Adam Merron)
This week the long-awaited production of ‘Teechers’ will hit the Stafford Grammar stage! This junior production has been in the works for several months now. With excellent direction from Mrs.Fletcher, along with some of her GCSE students, we couldn’t be more excited to go and watch it.
‘Teechers’ can be described as fast-moving and highly entertaining, it depicts life at a modern school. Using the format of an end-of-term play, the new drama teacher’s progress through two terms of recalcitrant classes, cynical colleagues and obstructive caretakers is reviewed. Disillusioned, he departs to a safer private school.
One actor, Louis Law had this to say about his experience:
“I’ve done a lot of shows already and so I felt encouraged and excited to take part in a school show, as it is a chance to show my passion for acting. The rehearsals have been really fun and enjoyable to attend. It’s been really good to see the progress of the show over the weeks, and it’s been nice to make friends from other year groups. I’m looking forward to opening night; it’ll be exciting to show off all the hard work and how far we have come from week one. It will definitely be nerve racking too but I’m really excited to perform. I think people should come and see Teechers because it’s a hilarious comedy.”
Another actor, Adam Merron said;
“I took part in other school productions and I loved the rehearsal time and the feeling of performing in front of an audience so that made me want to take part. They’ve [the rehearsals] been really exciting as every rehearsal is different. I’ve really enjoyed learning different acting techniques in rehearsals on top of in drama lessons as it’s given me a chance to show the skills I’ve learnt in lessons by performing on stage. I am looking forward to opening night, although I am slightly anxious to see how everything pulls together. The play is a great comedy, it’ll make everyone laugh and it’s a hilarious opportunity for the children to make a mockery of their teachers!”
There are some tickets left and they can be purchased from the school office.
Good luck everyone!
