Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize

Last term, once again the Science Department were invited to help judge the prestigious “Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize”, award to the writer of the year’s best science book for children under the age of 14. Seven pupils from year 6 and 7 volunteered to read and review the shortlisted books in six weeks.

The Royal Society combined our scores with those of the other review teams around the country. Just before Christmas, it was announced that this year’s winner of the £10.000 prize is Professor Robert Winston for his book “Home Lab-exciting experiments for budding scientists”.

The Year 7 Team were:

Alice Bradburn, Alex Degg Sasha Donoghue, Joe Fields, George Shaw.

Sasha Donoghue managed to review all six books and is awarded a book in recognition of this feat.

All the shortlisted books are available to borrow from the Science Department.

The Royal Society and Mrs Beauchamp would like to thank the whole team for their hard work and enthusiasm.
